The overall ranking system of the Clean Beauty Awards is a systematic scoring method based on a product’s efficacy and performance based on skin type and skin needs which means that personal preference and brand values are not always reflected in the final results. When Sabrina was asked to choose her top three favourite products, we asked her to consider her personal connection to the brand ethos, values, packaging as well as what works best for her skin type and unique skin needs. Her personal preference, and unique skin concerns are not always reflected in the final results of the awards but are always an extra insight into some of the much loved products entered into the Clean Beauty Awards.

Sabrina Zimmerman proves that clean beauty experts aren’t all cosmetics specialists, well-being practitioners and makeup artists. Sabrina is an operatic soprano, voice teacher, and vocal health & clean beauty advocate. She melds her music expertise and love of clean beauty products and holistic living for an enticing Instagram account. Her authentic voice and enthusiasm are refreshing reviews that make her a great Clean Beauty Awards Judge. She shares her full thoughts on her Instagram accounts, @diary_of_a_soprano and @brie.zimmerman.soprano and her blog.

Sabrina suffers from adrenal and hormonal issues, making her skin more sensitive and reactive. Growing up, she dealt with severe acne and scarring. Using clean beauty has greatly helped all of her skin issues and set her on a path as a clean beauty educator and advocate. As one of 146 Clean Beauty Judges, Sabrina used her knowledge to review the face oil category.

Favourite Face Oil #1: Kaelen Harwell’s Sun Salvation

Sun Salvation’s red raspberry seed oil provides a broad spectrum of UV protection and, in addition to hemp seed oil, is high in fatty acids. Sea buckthorn and broccoli seed oil have the ability to absorb UV rays, resulting in highly protected and nourished skin.

Sabrina loved the way that this product acted as a primer and as sun protection:

“It gave my skin an airbrushed look, thanks to the broccoli seed oil (which acts as a primer) and protected my skin from UV damage. I liked the natural scent and how it went on easily and absorbed quickly without clogging pores.”

Favourite Face Oil #2: Ayelet’s Defense Patrol

This Antioxidant-Rich serum is a super blend of plant-based cold-pressed fruit oils and pure essential oils containing a mega-dose of vital antioxidants, vitamins, and nutrients to neutralize free radicals created by pollutant irritants. It helps create an immune barrier, maintains the skin's elasticity and smoothness, and promotes healthier skin.

The soothing, non-greasy formula was a winner for Sabrina:

"This product was very soothing and helped to combat redness. It helped calm down my irritated skin, and the scent was beautiful. I also liked that this oil was more of a dry oil, so I never had to worry about any greasy after-feel. I think the ingredients, in particular, make this a product I will continue to reach for.” Sabrina had more to say about Ayelet’s Defence control. You can read it all here.

Favourite Face Oil #3: The Potion Masters’ Bloom Smoothing Facial Balm

The lushest ingredients from nature and science fill the Bloom Soothing Balm with nutrition and nourishment. The jars have been made with the most exotic floral extracts from across the globe; Hibiscus, Butterfly Pea Flower, Damask Rose, Blue Tansy, and Chamomile, to reduce the appearance of redness and smooth the skin's surface. The ultimate rich cream, lip conditioner, eye balm, massage balm and sleeping mask for the driest skin. Passionfruit, Prickly Pear, Plum and Marula infuse the skin with delectable moisture.

Sabrina loved the hydrating, plumping effects of this balm:

“This balm made my skin so plump and dewy and smooth! It helped make my skin look smoother and hydrated. This has a very light floral-y scent that I found very pleasant. I love that this is a very versatile product with several application possibilities: an overnight mask, face oil, moisturizer, lip and eye treatment.”

Sabrina started using cleaner products when an esthetician informed her that the conventional ones she favoured were making her sensitive, reactive skin worse. She's found that using cleaner products helps keep her skin (and hair) looking its best during long performances and lessons. The diversity of Sabrina’s interests and content makes it especially fun to follow.
