Can you tell us about the history and founding story of your clean beauty brand?

In high school, I started experimenting with plant-based ingredients to make creams, sparking my interest in organic skincare. As someone who finds peace in nature, I pursued a Bachelor's degree in certification of natural cosmetics and a Master's degree that studied the effects of a cream made from silver fir wood extract. Co-authoring a patent for a sustainable cosmetic active ingredient came about as a result of this research.

My studies in dermatology, pharmacognosy, cosmetology, aromatherapy, and phytotherapy further solidified my passion for natural and organic skincare ingredients, leading me to create GalBaia, Natural Dermathecary®. The brand blends science and nature to produce certified high-quality active cosmetics that promote skin health and beauty. The brand name combines the Roman doctor Galen and the Australian deity Baiame, integral to the "natural dermatheca" story that produces effective, clean, and quality natural skincare products.

What problem or need did your brand see in the beauty industry that inspired you to create a solution?

Nature! I've always greatly admired nature and am fascinated by its healing powers. Even as early as I was in secondary school, I was curious about how plant-based ingredients can contribute to the health of our skin. At that time, I started to create my first creams for my own personal use, and I gained my first positive experiences and realized that nature truly is our skin's best friend. I was well aware that my knowledge in the field was somewhat limited at that time – that realization and my love for developing cosmetic products paved my way to the Faculty of Applied Sciences, where I first completed my Bachelor's degree in certification of natural cosmetics, and then completed my Master's degree specializing in the effects of silver fir wood extract on the skin. I further expanded my knowledge at Formula Botanica, the world's largest and most renowned school for organic cosmetics, and got a diploma in organic skincare formulations and a certificate in organic anti-aging skincare.

What is one of your hero products? And why is this a product worth boasting about?

Our hero product is the PhytoGal (F)ACE Treatment Moisturizer. This moisturizer has the CosmEthically ACTIVE certificate. This certification ensures that all the product’s functional ingredients are in safe and effective concentrations. It's also ECOGEA Organic and ECOGEA Vegan certified, with 79.5% of the ingredients being organic.

The moisturizer is formulated with fruit juices, hydrolates, and naturally contained water, making it nourishing and quick-absorbing. It comes in a beautiful and sustainable Miron violet glass packaging that helps preserve the ingredients' quality, keeping them fresh for longer.

This extract has been proven to increase skin moisture and elasticity, smoothing away wrinkles. The moisturiser also contains Australian native ingredients, such as Finger Lime Caviar, Davidson Plum, Quandong, Mountain Pepper, and Kakadu Plum, the most potent natural source of Vitamin C in the world. These ingredients work together to nourish and hydrate the skin, leaving it looking and feeling healthy and radiant. I brought a little piece of Australia to Slovenia, and more broadly to Europe, as these indigenous ingredients were completely unknown here.

What is your brand's long-term vision for the future, and how do you see it evolving in the coming years?

My wish is to creatively expand my own brand line with products that carry a meaningful story. With innovative, user and environmentally-friendly cosmetic products, unique active ingredients, and distinctive packaging, aiming to increase the company's reputation and penetrate new markets within the EU and beyond.

The brand has already been recognized with an award, and the plan is to launch a complete range of skincare products. I have already started working on new products, with the drive to offer a complete cosmetic line sometime soon. From peeling, face oil, and serum, hand-picked for their attributes and formulated with care and passion for the natural touch.
