Manda Marie Tiscenko is a skincare lover, and clean beauty advocate who enjoys sharing her favourite and not-so-favourite product finds with her family, friends and followers. She looks for eco-friendly and toxin-free products by opting for more straightforward natural ingredients and packaging made from recycled materials. Her combination-oily skin means that she looks for products that can hydrate and soothe while controlling oil and reducing blemishes. Face Masks are a fantastic way to replenish, resurface and balance oil production, which is why judging the face mask category for the Clean Beauty Awards was such a perfect fit for Manda.

The overall ranking system of the Clean Beauty Awards is a systematic scoring method based on a product’s efficacy and performance based on skin type and skin needs. This means that personal preference and brand values are not always reflected in the final results. We took this opportunity to ask Manda to choose her top three favourite products not just based on product performance but also her connection to the brand ethos, values and packaging. As one of the 146 Clean Beauty Awards judges, her thoughtful reviews gave a unique insight into some outstanding clean beauty face masks entered into the 2022 Clean Beauty Awards.

Favourite Face Mask #1: Bl'eau Beauty’s Glacial Oceanic Clay Mask

Sourced from ancient glaciers off the coast of British Columbia, Glacial Oceanic Clay Mask gently exfoliates, soothes redness and irritation, and infuses thirsty skin with intense hydration. Boasting more than 60 minerals, micronutrients and rare elements proven to detoxify and replenish, this detoxifying botanical blend promotes a softer, brighter and radiant complexion.

This product topped Manda’s list thanks to its pore shrinking and brightening effects:

“This mask made my complexion brighter, and my pores look smaller! My large pores are a huge area of concern and for them to appear smaller is huge. It didn't have much of a scent. If anything, it was light and earthy, and the clay mask didn’t leave my skin itchy as others have in the past. The packaging was gorgeous! This one does not need to be hidden away; it's pretty! Plus, it is easy to open and close.”

Favourite Face Mask #2: Huna Skin’s Okanagan Orchard Fruit + Honey Brightening Mask

Huna Okanagan Orchard Fruit + Honey Brightening Mask is a deliciously luxurious brightening, rejuvenating, and skin-enhancing weekly facial mask treatment. This high-performance honey-based mask contains Huna Medicinal Wildflower Honey from our own Huna Farm, along with skin-healing Manuka Honey and Quebec-sourced organic Maple Syrup with apple, pear, plum, and ferulic acid, vitamin C + niacinamide.

Second, on Manda’s list was Huna Skin’s Mask which left her skin bright and soft:

“My face was left hydrated, bright and soft. My cheeks which are typically dryer, felt moisturized.

It smells so good! It almost reminds me of a fruit roll-up! I have seriously never wanted to put something on my face so fast! It was easy to spread once it warmed up. I appreciate that I can see the product through the jar and that it lists its key ingredients on the front.”

Favourite Face Mask #3: Founders Formula’s Post-Workout Australian Clay Detox Mask

This Post-Workout Australian Clay Detox Mask contains Australian Clay to bind with and draw out toxins, Tasmanian Mountain Pepper Berry to reduce redness, sensitivity and inflammation certified organic Babassu seed oil and Squalane to nourish and prevent skin from becoming dry.

The ease of use and reduction of redness put this product on Manda’s list:

“My face was left soft, hydrated immediately after use. The redness in my cheeks was diminished. It's easy to use. Like really easy. Squeeze and apply right to your sweaty, dirty face. I also liked that it didn't dry down. It's such a pretty, eco-friendly aluminum tube.”

Manda’s commitment to clean beauty encourages her to discover new, non-toxic products. She loved exploring the 2022 Clean Beauty Awards Face Mask entries and trying brands she may not have found otherwise. She regularly posts about these products on her Instagram and TikTok accounts. Her honesty and fun reviews shouldn’t be missed.

Carly Taylor also reviewed the face mask category and had her own set of favourites to share. Take a look at Carly’s list here.
