This week, I tested out the Radiant Glow: Elevated Brightening Oil Serum from bareLUXE. 🌟 . The Pros: ✨Scent: was lovely! Kinda fruit, raspberry-ish. Very enjoyable! ✨Plastic-free: I love their mission to be part of the “plastic-free movement". . An FYI: ✨I was kinda confused about application: Generally speaking, you apply serums before your moisturizer. However, they recommend to apply after your moisturizer. Honesty the only reason I figured this out at all was because I was looking at their website (to learn more about the brand as a whole). It does not provide these instructions on the box or bottle itself. I do feel like this is an oversight. . and the Cons: ✨Mixed results. After a week of use, I didn’t see any difference on my skin - if *anything* it made my redness worse. It did add extra hydration, however...so that’s a plus. Like I said, a bit of a mixed bag. . 👉FINAL THOUGHTS: I really wanted to like this - I loved the brands mission, “bareLUXE is an anti-plastic activist brand. bareLUXE™ is committed to using skincare containers and packaging that are compostable or completely biodegradable (no microplastics) whenever possible. It is up to smart consumers to help us increase the demand for these types of innovative packing materials AND put pressure on the “big guys" to step up.” . However: after a week of use, this just wasn’t worth the time, effort, or money. My skin did feel a bit more hydrated, but certainly didn’t even out my skin tone (if anything, it made it worse). Unfortunately this is getting tossed into my NOPE pile.
This oil serum has become a treatment that I reach for again and again, both for its potent brightening effects from tetra-C and its uplifting natural berry scent from its many berry and fruit seed extracts. It's a joy to press it into my skin, breathe in the aromatherapy, and know that I'm brightening and nourishing my skin all at once. The 'elevated' description in this serum's name is accurate— thoughtful additions of high-quality botanical ingredients like licorice, bearberry, prickly pear, and the unique pterocarpus marsupium bark give this serum an edge on delivering top-notch effectiveness.
Vitamin C serums I usually water based, but this is a potent Vitamin C Oil, based of tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, contains a blend of high-performance botanicals to combat dull, uneven skin tone while restoring luminosity and vibrancy. This oil is very lightweight, healing, prevents future damage, works as a SPF and is made with many organic ingredients.
