Launching a company is no small feat, doing it during a pandemic is a major accomplishment. Organic Works is a U.K.-based skincare company with a founding team of three. All of their products are tested for sensitive skin, are cruelty-free and will soon be certified organic.
Despite introducing their products to the world during an international crisis, Organic Works products have already been recognized by awards programs internationally, including their Cleansing Face Wash being named the best Face Wash at the CertClean 2021 Clean Beauty Awards.
We spoke with Organic Works Production Manager Tor Berry about their award-winning product.
Why do you think your Cleansing Face Wash was chosen as the winner?
I think the face wash has such broad appeal. It’s fantastic for all ages, all skin types, men, women—the whole family, really. It’s organic with over 22% of the ingredients from organic farming, too.
Why did you create this product? What need were you fulfilling?
We really wanted an entry product that could be used by everyone, wasn’t gimmicky in any way, was still vegan, organic, sensitive skin-tested and actually quite gender-neutral—a truly affordable and effective organic product for the whole family.
Would you say this is your best-selling product?
It absolutely is our best-selling product and it should be in every shower across the globe!
What are the ingredients of this product and what do they do?
The Cleansing Face Wash cleanses away impurities and daily grime with essential oils and plant extracts, restoring skin’s natural balance with rose geranium flower oil & aloe vera. It’s also really hydrating and super kind to your skin.
What does winning this award mean to you?
This award is so great for our little UK brand—the recognition from across the pond, with truly independent judges and also in a category with other brands we admire. Also, CertClean is about principle, it’s about integrity and it’s not about trends and that matters hugely, too.
Why is being a clean beauty brand important?
These days it’s increasingly important. Look we’ve got climate change and that means at an environmental level, we’ve got high levels of pollution affecting our skin every day. We’ve got busier lives than ever. And consumers are super aware and conscious of everything from the supply chain to packaging, so being ‘clean’ is actually business-critical for us.
What’s next for your brand?
We are releasing a certified organic vegan serum—Intensive Smoothing Serum (50ml)—very soon, followed by more skincare lines and some haircare, too. We are also beefing up our eco credentials adding to our refill options including this award-winning face wash now available in 1 litre – all with sugarcane labels! Lots on the horizon for OW!
